Fatty liver (also known as hepatic steatosis) describes the buildup of fat in the liver. Well, it is normal to have small amounts of fat in your liver, but, too much of it can be a serious health problem. It is linked to type 2 diabetes, obesity, and other disorders characterized by insulin resistance.
The liver is the second largest organ in the body. It is responsible for performing a wide variety of functions, including processing everything we eat & drink, and filtering harmful substances from the blood. Thus, the presence of too much fat on the liver can result in long-term liver damage and may have dangerous effects on overall health.
The symptoms of fatty liver include:
Appetite loss
Nausea
Vomiting
Abdominal pain
Jaundice
Yellowing of eyes and skin
